Globe Mills Multiuse Business Hub Restoration
Halliday Clark have been involved in the restoration of Globe Mills in the village of Slaithwaite in the Colne Valley since 2012.
In 2013 Halliday Clark secured planning permission for the restoration of the Globe Mills site complex, which consists of two large former textile mills built in 1887 in a prominent canal-side position in the centre of the village. These imposing buildings are in the process of being restored to provide a multi-use business hub bringing employment, facilities and amenities to the centre of the village.
Globe 1, the larger of the two mills facing onto the Huddersfield Narrow Canal was completed in 2018 providing multi-use accommodation including medical facilities, complementary medical and headquarters for a large local pharmaceutical company with space for further tenants and uses, providing over 80,000sqft of accommodation in total.
Internal features such as original timber floors, exposed cast-iron columns, internal brickwork and brick vaulted ceilings were all preserved and restored for the enjoyment of future generations. The second smaller mill, Globe 2, is currently in the process of restoration.
