Halliday Clark was involved in Sheriff Hutton Hall for a number of years. A large aspect of the work involved was to discharge the listed building conditions and to produce a detailed refurbishment specification. Following extensive consultation with the planners we subsequently went back into planning for amendments to the front entrance. Understanding the Grade I Listed Hall’s history and how this has evolved through time has been key to enabling consent for further changes to the house balancing the clients brief with the concerns of the planning officer. The state of the house, which had been vacant for a number of years, required a high level of technical expertise, balancing traditional techniques with modern building solutions.
