Rotherham Cluster Sites Residential Development

Halliday Clark, in conjunction with Wates Residential, were selected by Rotherham Borough Council through a competitive tender dialogue process to provide architectural services from RIBA Work Stages 1-7 inclusive. The overall scheme consists of 330 properties being constructed in differing forms of tenure, eg outright sale, shared ownership for sale, affordable rent and social rent, as well as specialist care units on a number of sites. Seven sites in total were submitted for detailed planning applications set against the brief outlined.

Halliday Clark worked very closely with Rotherham Borough Council in carefully developing a proposed housing brand to begin the delivery programme of houses for sale and rent by Rotherham Borough Council as a new and distinct initiative under the banner of Rother Living. Initially, a show village was developed, and early indications are that sales are being delivered ahead of the planned programme and in some instances at a capital cost in excess of predictions. The scheme is being utilized as an exemplar and lessons learnt exercise for Rotherham Borough Council in further developing its housing development strategy to both provide much needed homes for sale and at the same time provide an appropriate percentage and range of housing types for affordable housing provision.
