Otley Rugby Club

Halliday Clark were commissioned in a traditional role for all RIBA Stages 0-7 for the relocation of the rugby club and supporting facilities. The proposed scheme will provide a purpose built clubhouse with four new pitches and car parking.

The ambition is to unlock the town’s potential as a first class sporting venue and to encourage sports participation across all ages and genders. As well as enabling the club to boost their sporting profile.

In response to the green belt location the design was approached with an agricultural form in mind, the proposal aims to achieve the look of a contemporary conversion of an agricultural structure. This has been produced through the scale, mass and use of materials traditionally found in the agricultural environment.

To further supplement the conversion narrative, proportional additions in a contrasting form and materiality create the look of an extended structure.

Size: 2,000 m2 clubhouse, 4 pitches and parking.
