Passivhaus principals can be applied to all projects in all sectors. Passivhaus buildings are defined by having a high level of thermal comfort while using very little energy for heating and cooling. As an RIBA practice, we champion low impact and low energy buildings, and have completed a series of award-winning Passivhaus and Passivhaus Plus projects. With the ever-increasing pressure to make best use of the world’s resources and to protect the environment, we can start to make a difference with how we design our buildings. Targeting Passivhaus standard is always a challenge and relies upon a close working relationship between the contractor and design team to maintain the highest levels of workmanship to achieve the lowest airtightness rating possible.
